In late January and early February, I wrote a short novella called 'The Monterey Protocols' about events set in August 2026. The book was published directly to the main vox chat channel, but it is also available on the web, and is also available as a pdf. The book was written to challenge the reader to consider questions about strategic civil defense beyond their immediate material needs. It relays a couple key facts and a possible scenario most people won't be familiar with―but that is very real.This fundraiser is to print about a thousand physical copies of the book and distribute them to individuals, bookstores and libraries that want copies. What do we get for our donation?The goal is to print around a thousand copies of the book. This is an eighty (80) page book. It will have a "perfect" or square binding like a traditional book. It will have a color cover, with plain black and white pages. The simplest way to handle distribution is to just mail folks that want one a copy. Some of the funds will cover postage. The book is in the public domain, and a donation address will be included in the inside cover if anyone would like to contribute more. Contributors can of course get a physical copy, either by emailing me at zine@small.neomailbox.ch, by DM on telegram or reddit, or by purchasing the book from an independent bookseller that stocks it. Why not go through a publisher? There is a risk that an unscrupulous publisher might engage in "catch & kill" or deliberate sabotage to delay or harm distribution of the work. Paying for a small run to seed distribution eliminates this risk. ## What does this book have to do with Bitcoin (Cash)?While the subject of the book is a lot bigger than money, the plot does include characters that work for currencies that aren't sanctioned by the current class of global elite. Although the book was published and archived on Bitcoin (Cash), it doesn't mention or enforce any 'freedom' bitcoins directly.The book is about things that can and should transcend commodification.Everyone gets the book, even if the fundraiser fails. This novella will forever exist on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, as vox messages in the transactions listed on the website. The book is available on github, although the 2qx github account is occasionally blocked and may be permanently blocked in the future. I maintain the means to produce physical copies in limited quantities. If anyone in the Bitcoin Cash community would like a homemade copy of the book, just shoot me a DM of where to send it.
